Description
Are Women People? is a song cycle for SATB Vocal Quartet and Piano four hands. It was commissioned by the Hanson Institute for American Music at the Eastman School of Music and the Susan B. Anthony Center for Women’s Leadership to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in New York State.
The work sets the poems of Alice Duer Miller, excerpts from a Susan B. Anthony speech and The 19th Amendment of The US Constitution.
There is an excerptable a cappella cycle within, entitled The Power to Vote.
