Description
In my attempt to capture the humor of “Money” I mirror the slang of the poem with harmonies that are theatrical in nature, and use musical sequences to match the sequences found in the poem. A dreamier middle section appears as the singer fantasizes about the power of money, and the song comes to a close with a return of the opening up-tempo (and a happy shout).
The song was part of a 50th birthday present for my husband Bruce Rosenblum.
It is available in solo and duet versions, for numerous voice types.
You can hear Stephen Powell’s solo rendition on his Grammy-nominated CD “American Composers at Play”.
